I hate to ask this but what is the proper way to thread the belt on this holster? If it is over the barrel it sags out when wearing and if it is under the barrel then it sits up but doesnt look right.

I had that problem before and when I changed to a thicker belt it helped it , now I use a 1 3/4" western style belt that is almost 1/4" thick .

as soon as I get better I will post a few pic's of it .

That's a fine looking Bianchi Model 7 Shadow II (18662) holster you have there.

You are threading the belt properly in the top pic but you can get a bit of extra support if you thread it holster belt slot to pants belt loop to holster belt slot. As Texasdoc said, a decent belt is needed. Get an internally reinforced belt if you can.

I was wearing it like you suggested with a belt loop in the middle like the top pic and it was printing at the magwell end. Maybe I do just need a wider belt. I have been using a Galco Summer Special IWB but thought I would try this out, it came with a 1911 I bought last year and is in the "pile of holsters" drawer. Back side says it is an Old World model 23555. Thanks for the Bianchi tip, have to check it out.

As already noted, the problem is your belt. It's way too flexible. A proper gun belt takes quite a bit of effort to get the holster on.

Another vote on the belt. Once you get a good, thick belt you will understand why some preach about it...it works.

I resemble that statement.
Quality belt, quality holster, put it on, cover it up & leave it alone. No one will know you are armed.
Evening JLaw.

Got a 66 w/2.5 barrel. Will carry. Got grips today Thank you TxD.
Still hunting a holster.

Not meaning to hi-jack here, but I am looking at alternatives to my fanny pack and waistband. I carry a G23, am fat and typically don't wear slacks, so IWB rigs have not done well with me. What OWB equipment would ya'll recommend and how does one go about wearing it well concealed?

In addition to the quality belt thing... You have to have a cover garment of some sort. This time of year that is easy... it could be anything from a fleece vest or 5.11 tactical / photographer's vest to a parka and you would be okay. In the summer it is a bit more tricky, and you usually need something lighter that still works. Polo and Hawaiian type shirts work well for many. Just get them cut a bit longer than normal - usually the rule of thumb for me is that if it will cover the opening to the pockets on my jeans then it will cover my 1911 just fine.

Another option is shoulder carry. I use that one sometimes to great effect and it takes a different set of concealment needs. The shirt can be tucked in, but it helps if it is a bit looser cut around the shoulders.

Heck, sometimes I even go for ankle carry. But I leave that to a S&W airweight - not the 1911. That is the easiest for me to conceal because I have always worn boot cut jeans. Nothing to change at all.

Thanks. It all seems pretty simple now. A small wardrobe change and I should be good to go.
