I hate half truths

Post by dukalmighty »

In Miami, authorities say the proliferation of assault weapons led to an increase in killings, from 56 in 2005 to 79 in 2006 and 86 so far in 2007.

"You just pull a trigger and 20 or 30 rounds come in a second and in those 20 rounds you're sure to hit your intended target and some innocent bystanders, totally unlike a firearm that is just one bullet every time you pull the trigger," Miami Police spokesman Willie Moreno said.
I would like them to prove that statement, how many of the firearms used were actually full auto or select fire,i bet very few to none and if they were they had been illegally converted,or stolen. :mad5.I watch the next 48 and never have any of the homicides in florida they showed involved an automatic weapon, most of them involve handguns or knives.
It is said that if you line up all the cars in the world end-to-end, someone would be stupid enough to try to pass them

I hate half truths
I don't even think this statement even qualifies as half true.

Basically, it shows that Willie Moreno needs to go back to school.

You would need one HECK of a machinegun to fire 30 rounds in one second of fire...

That would mean a cyclic rate of 1800 rounds per minute.

The cyclic rate of the M249 machinegun is about 900 rounds per minute.

At 1800 rounds your barrel would be glowing red and drooping to the floor.

The story indicates Willie Moreno is a "police spokesman." There have been WAY too many instances of "police spokesmen" implying fully-automatic weapons figure prominently in crime, despite REPEATED corrections, with the implication that civilian-legal EBRs fit that mold.

That it still happened here makes me conclude that Willie Moreno is not a moron but a liar unless he can prove that there were many fatal machine-gunnings (at least thirty) in Miami. :mad5

That's 34.8% of the 86 shootings in Miami (the city, not the county) this year. The police really should do something to protect the people of Miami.

Thanks, I like to keep track of which outlets in the MSM are posting truly outlandish statements, and these certainly qualify.

Since it's an AP piece, it's probably been posted all over the place.
