POLICE NEWS: Home intruder shot, killed

Saturday, January 05, 2008

By Emily Ingram

Tribune-Herald staff writer

A homeowner shot and killed a man as he forced his way into a home in Copperas Cove on Friday afternoon, police said.

Police were called to 2204 Boland St. after shots were fired inside the home. They discovered a man who had been shot several times in the upper torso, Copperas Cove police said in a statement.

Through the investigation, police learned the man was an intruder who had “entered the residence unlawfully and apparently used physical force against the homeowner, police said.

The intruder was taken to Darnall Army Hospital where he died from his injuries. The man’s identity was not released pending notification of family, police said.

The shooting remained under investigation Friday evening.

I can't believe he didn't run out of his own home leaving the intruder to take whatever posessions he felt entitled to,how dare he defend his "castle".It wasn't very long ago in Kansas if you had a means to escape if somebody broke in your home you were required by law to leave rather than defend your property. That law changed in the last couple years and now bad guy breaks into house homeowner can defend their lives/property with deadly force.I think i's a state law in texas if you live here you must own a gun looks like that guy foud out the hard way :txflag:
It is said that if you line up all the cars in the world end-to-end, someone would be stupid enough to try to pass them

Since Copperas Cove is very close to Fort Hood, gremlins have a good chance of running into armed and trained homeowners.

About 20 years ago I lived in a military housing area in Kileen that was outside the post. A car load of intoxicated idiots came into the neighborhood one morning, after a long night of partying, and began shooting out of their car windows. By the time I could put down my coffee, retrieve my sidearm and get out the front door, they had already been disarmed and handcuffed by several of my neighbors. The idiots looked pretty depressed, for picking the wrong neighborhood, when the MP's showed up.

Now THAT'S a neighborhood watch!
"If a man breaks in your house, he ain't there for iced tea." Mom & Dad.

The NRA & TSRA are a bargain; they're much cheaper than the cold, dead hands experience.
