I was watching mythbusters today when they tested whether or not an MRI machine would make a tattoo explode. That reminded me of our locked topic so I submitted it to them as a suggestion along w/ a link to the journal article. I'd post a link to the forum w/ the suggestion but after submission I got a message saying "messages of this type must be reviewed by moderators" -- I guess b/c it contains the word "gun"
At anyrate maybe we'll see them put it to the test in a future episode :)
I might be wrong but I don't think anybody is going to be lettig firearms be sucked into their mri machines on purpose.I could understand just using a primed case to test if it would set a primer off. Then again trying to get a weapon to fire in exactly the same manner is kinda lke kabooms where you know there was a story about a guy fireforming cases in a thompson contender pistol and was using a light charge just to change case shape and one shot blew his barrel up.the only thing he could think of he did different was he paused and let weapon drop with muzzle aimed at ground possibly letting powder run away from primer and when he raised pistol back up the vaccum between powder and primer caused rapid over pressure or sumpin like that.the problem is sometimes getting a firearm to do the same thing it did before and that's why sometimes we have problems believing something occured in the maner presented
It is said that if you line up all the cars in the world end-to-end, someone would be stupid enough to try to pass them
Yeah, as with all their gun myths they don't do them exactly as described. I just like the show and was excited to finally have an idea to suggest to them :) If/when they do I'm sure I'll be entertained by what ever means they decide to imitate the scenario.
