There have been a few sold already on the auction sites and word form the factory is that the first production run has been sold out (mostly to dealers). Looks like after the long wait, its finally hitting the gun shops. I'll be picking one up but will be waiting for the hype to die down this time. This on eis slightly different than its big brother (the PX4) as it has a Browning type tilt barrel instead of the rotating barrel. Accuracy was lauded in early magazine reviews and it boasted 2" groups at 25yds. Maybe that cone shaped barrel has something to do with that. It will also accept the full size PX4 mags by utilizing an adapter that fits ovr the mag. Should be a great pistol if it's anything like the PX4.

So there you have it........it's gonna be scarce for a bit, but its trickling out to the public.

That's good news. I have a friend who has been waiting to buy one for a long time.

I've test-fired the full-size PX4 and was less than impressed, especially with the trigger. It's twice as expensive as my Ruger 9mm, larger, not much lighter, and the trigger is stamped, and has a very loose-feeling mechanism. I think I'll pass.

Well, looks like I was a bit premature.....they were listed on GunBroker and the auction ended early. A confirmation with Beretta revealed that no subcompacts have been delivered to any dealers yet. Bummer......got my panties in a bunch over nothing!

The PX4 trigger definitely needs a little work but once done, it's fantastic. They can be bought for $399 all day and their reliability is impeccable. Not sure what was loose in the firearm you handled and I'm not sure what stamped operating is, but my PX4 wasn't loose at all. In fact, I sold my 92 Elite 1A because I liked the PX4 more. I guess if I paid $200 for a Ruger 9mm I might scoff at a $400 price tag.

Some commas were needed. The trigger is formed from stamped metal, and the trigger, and by connection, the firing mechanism felt very sloppy to me even considering I was comparing it to a Ruger, which are not known for crisp pulls. And my range must be trying to shaft me; they were asking for $635 for the PX4 in .45ACP, where my stainless P95 was $350 and a P345 would be $410. Not quite twice as much, but we're still talking hundreds of dollars more for a gun that doesn't feel or fire as good as what I have. More for you.

And regarding my Ruger 9mm; Pull the bang switch with the booger hooker and it sends a bullet towards the target every time without fail. I've watched my defense rounds blow a 2-inch hole in an inch-thick pane of auto glass, penetrate 16 inches of ballistic gelatin and bring down more than one Texas hog. I regularly achieve 4" groupings at 15 yards; from bench I can blow a ragged hole in a target at that range, so it's definitely accurate and controllable enough that I can drop any BG at any distance within my home. It has so far seen about 850 rounds and has yet to fail to feed, fire, eject or cycle. It has failed to lock back ONCE, because I was holding the slide lock down with my thumb. Yes, I will gladly choose my P95 to defend my home, life and loved ones without a second thought, and no, I would not trust my life to a $200 gun either.

I've got a pair of Px4s (one 9mm and one .40 cal) and love them both. Their great guns and I've had no problems with them; probably put more than 2500 rounds through each. I did, however, have to convert them to model "G" with the stealth decocker and slide release. The batwing safety was rough on the hands.

I still like my G23 better, however.

The reported sales of the sub-compact are false.

Per Beretta: no sub-compacts have been shipped yet.
However, according to Matteo Recanatini, it will not be long until they ship.

Yeah, I corrected myself a few posts after the initial topic. My bad.........still, they're supposed to be out by mid Feb at the latest, so that's great news. The Rugers are good pistols from what I've heard. The PX4 .45 can be had for $460ish. Make sure you shop around. There's always a better deal somewhere else. The PX4 trigger is actually polymer with a metal bracked molded in. The trigger pin, trigger bar and firing mechanism are all metal and accuracy is pretty darn good if you ask me...........or just ask all the other shooters that placed below me at the Texas State IDPA Championship
