I have had an FFL 01 for almost 2 years. Prior to getting my license and while still trying to decide if I wanted to go through with the process, I had loads of friends and coworkers tell me I should go ahead and get it. They all wanted me to get them firearms ranging from C&R weapons to handguns, etc. I went ahead and got it (obviously) but then it was as if nobody knew what I was talking about when I asked what guns they wanted to get. My potential customers just disappeared.
So far, the only guns I have bought have been either for myself or a couple to put on the shelf so that I might be considered a "Stocking Dealer". This hasn't helped, simply because my inventory (3 or 4 rifles) and yearly gross ($00.00) is no where near large enough for most Distributors, and so they will not deal with me. Of the ones that will, most of their prices are such that, when I add on shipping and sales tax, people can get them cheaper online.
I have had people ask me lately about getting them guns (mostly handguns) and I have even gone as far as to tell them it would be cheaper for them to order from some place like Bud's Gun Shop and have it transferred through me. This would save them the sales tax (perfectly legal) and I wouldn't even charge a transfer fee (just to get the business on my books and get a customer base going). Still a "no go".
I'm believe my inspection will be coming around soon and with no business except mine showing on my books, I am pretty sure They will be asking for (taking) it back.
My question to other FFL's here is "Should I wait for them to take my license or should I save them the trouble of coming out and just turn it in?" I'm also wondering how hard it would be to get it back later if I let it go/loose it now? I really want to keep it since I have been trying to get a business set up for when I retire from my full time job but I may have no choice.

Re: FFL Question
What distributors have you tried? Ignore Davidsons. They're about $40 higher than the others.
