Ten days after shooting a would-be robber multiple times, an Ingram convenience store clerk again pulled a gun -- this time on a customer, police said Tuesday. "They were in a heated argument over change from a transaction," Ingram police Chief John Doherty said, describing clerk Kaelin Weber's encounter with the customer. "Words were exchanged, and he felt he was being intimidated."
Weber, 24, was cleared of wrongdoing in the Christmas morning shooting, but the latest incident will cost him his license to carry a concealed weapon, said Allegheny County Sheriff Bill Mullen, who grants gun permits.
"Based on the recommendation of the Ingram police, I'm going to revoke his license," Mullen said. "You threaten a guy with a firearm who said you gave him the wrong change." The customer, whom Doherty declined to identify, was angry Friday because he thought Weber didn't give him correct change for his cigarette purchase at the 7-Eleven on West Prospect Street. As the argument escalated, Weber pulled a gun from his pocket and pointed it at the customer, Doherty said. Another person inside the store called police, Doherty said.
On Christmas, police said Weber shot Lawrence Davis, 20, who slashed him during a robbery attempt. He then ordered Davis to stay on the ground until police arrived.
District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr. said Monday he will not charge Weber for shooting Davis. Zappala's spokesman, Mike Manko, said prosecutors are reviewing the most recent incident. Weber did not return a call seeking comment.
