Houston Galleria

Post by rgoldy »

OK, I wll admit to being a bit of a troglodyte, but I have not been forced to go to the Galleria in more than a few years. Now the wife person wants to check it out. More for the floor show I think than to buy something.
Anybody familiar with the 30.06 postings there? I hate to have to break it to her, but iffen they have posted properly, we won't be going. I am not about to go into that place without protection.

I recently made a visit the David Yurman store and parked in a Galleria garage. I went in a door that entered the second floor of the mall and there was no posting (i did look for one). I honestly can't say where i pulled in or what garage it was, but as far as i could tell, the mall is not posted.

Never seen a sign there, 30.06, "ghostbusters", or any other type.

Never had a problem there either; must be that scowl I usually tend to wear when I have to go shopping... :smilelol5:

No posting at DALLAS Galleria. Wouldn't go there if it was. Barely willing to go south of 190 anyway.

And tonite there's a party for a United States Marine Major returning safely from duty in Fallujah. Party is smack-dab in the middle of Dallas...

Going in weapons hot.

I thought troglodytes were extinct???

I don't think you need to worry about gun-buster signage in the Galleria area...

I sure wouldn't go there if they did have the anti-CHL 30.06 sign anywhere around there...

Besides...With the amount of freaks (present company excluded) that go there and put up with the traffic, rude and discourteous parking habits of some people...

I'm surprised I'd even consider going there during off-seasonal periods...

Even thought I do know they got some really nice stores to stroll through while "Wife Unit" is "shopping"...

An endangered group perhaps, but not yet extinct. We survived the expedition today. I will say thanks to all who responded. Your information was on the mark. Neither of the two entrances to the mall I used were posted in any way. In fact, the only posting I saw was on a sports bar inside the mall that had the 51% sign prominently displayed on both sides of the entrance. I might question it's validity since I saw way more folks eating inside than drinking, but I did not go in and ask. The mall was full of folks as we expected. By and large they were well behaved in all age groups.
Total expenditure for the excursion did not exceed $50.00 and that included two very overpriced cups of coffee from Starbucks.

I go to the Galleria (Houston) quite regularly and always carry there. There are no 30.06 signs and there is not even any policy against it in their rules and regulations.

Hope this helps. Stay safe...

I know this is an old thread but I was wondering the same thing about the Galleria. Although there is no 30.06 that I can see in any of their entrances, there are some fine prints posted at every entrance with a set of rules, and one of them being "No weapons of any kind being allowed on property .." or something like that. Anyone knows if there would be trouble if I am printing?

Or, has anyone have any problems carrying at the Galleria?

It is just like they should have told you at CHL class. Unless its a proper 30.06 the signs have no meaning.

They did emphasize the 30.06 in class and that's why I look for them. But unless you have actually gone through a situation where you fought the 30.06, it is still in the back of your mind.

Whether or not any object is a weapon is determined by its use in a given circumstance. Anything can be used as either a weapon or not.

I have personally seen knives, guns, Listerine bottles, bathroom scales, shoelaces, belts, poodle leashes, strips of clothing and can openers used as the instruments of death.

If one were to attempt to comply with this silliness, he would have to enter the Galleria naked and prove himself even goofier than the person who posted the "rule."

I wouldn't spend time obsessing over it because it has no basis in law.
