Benelli M4 - interesting demonstration

Post by Mike1951 »

I was watching an episode of Guns & Ammo TV from two months ago when their 'torture test' segment came on.

The were going to demonstrate the disastrous effect of firing a 12ga shotgun with the bore plugged by a smaller round.

This is informational only and 'DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME', etc.

In most guns, the results would be catastrophic and dangerous to the shooter and bystanders.

However, they took a 12ga Benelli M4, clamped into a shooting rest, and dropped a 20ga shell into the chamber, plugging the barrel.

Then they loaded a Hornady slug 12ga round and fired it. They found the shredded 20 ga round downrange. The Benelli did not appear to be harmed and probably would have cycled, had not the tie down strap interfered.

So they did it again, this time using a 12ga load of buckshot. Again, the 20ga round was expelled and this time the action cycled, because they had moved the tie downstrap.

There was still no apparent damage to the Benelli.

Benelli must make a stout shotgun.
