GOODY GUNS! Has anyone seen this??

Post by DoubleActionCHL »

The JPFO has started a program for kids called "Goody Guns." Basically, it's a gun-shaped cookie cutter, recipes, a couple of pamphlets on the evils of gun control and one on gun safety.

I have to admit, I have mixed feelings about this. I don't see it as particularly helpful. I see it as extremely inflammatory to the anti-gunners (not that it matters). In my opinion, it draws attention to pro-gun people in a way that's very easily twisted into a negative. Frankly, I think the idea is just silly.

What do you think?

Anything that inflames antis I like. They do not care what inflames me.

I completely agree. However, this is one of those issues that will be portrayed with half-truths and a negative spin. Because it's about kids, people will eat it up. You and I both know that 90% of Americans never question the source or the validity of the information fed to them by the mainstream media. For the anti-gunners, what's good for the goose is NOT good for the gander. If we were on equal footing, I'd have no problem... but we're not. The anti-gunners ARE the media, and they have the means to saturate America with negative propaganda. I think giving them the ammo to hurt our cause could be counter-productive.

Like I said, I have mixed feelings. All things being equal, I have no problem with gun-shaped cookie cutters. I have no problem using creative means to teach kids about gun safety and the importance of our right to keep and bear arms. This one, however, just strikes me as an easy target for the anti-gunners. Maybe I'm over-analyzing.

Do you think there is any chance at all that you could get permission to sell the cookies outside Target? ;-)

Yes, I'm sure an anti-gun group can and will have a field day with something like this. As others have said though, when was it our job to make them feel better about themselves much less try to understand their reasonings for why they say and do the things they do?

I like the thought of parents engaging in an activity with their children that does not amount to buying them another video game.

Well Led at least it is an activity that you both enjoy together. Unless they beat you badly and you go a-stormin' off.
