New to site, Address Question

Post by RugerP345 »

Good to be part of the site.
Just took the class this past Friday, and I have a serious question about my application.

I have not changed my address on my current DL and have been living at my current address 3+ years now.
I know this sounds unrealistic, but I didn’t realize this until I started filling out my paper work and took my license out and to my horror I discovered my oversight.

I feel this is pretty serious, and I don’t want to be disqualified in my app. bc I haven’t changed my address.

What should I do? Leave my old address on the form and use my current address as my mailing address?

Or, Go to DPS tomorrow, get address changed to current, and fill application?

All of my paperwork that I have filled out has my old address on it since that is what my DL reads (finger print cards, picture, and affidavits)

What should I do, or have I already shot myself in the foot? (No pun intended)

:tiphat: Thanks in advance and I apologize for asking such a dumb question on my first post.

Welcome to the forum. It's a shame you didn't find it sooner.

There are many instructors here that will answer your questions.

But it sounds like you messed up. Weren't you able to ask your instructor prior to completing your package.

It's not gonna fly with the wrong address, just don't know how to tell you to fix it.

Good luck,
Mike

If you leave it as is, your CHL will go to your old address, will not be forwarded, and will be returned to DPS, so that's not really an option.

Change your address on your driver's license first. You can go to the DPS office, or you can do that online at http://www.texasonline.com. Your driver's license address MUST match your CHL.

Next, you need to change the address on your application and fingerprint cards. On the yellow application, draw a single line through each line of the address, initial the changes, and write in the correct information. On the fingerprint cards, you are allowed to use white-out, just do it neatly. Or, you could go and get fingerprinted again with new cards.

If you don't think you can make those changes legibly, then ask your instructor for a new application package.

Thanks for the warm welcome, I just went online and changed my address. I'm shocked at how quickly I was able to change my adress, and I'm ashamed that I didnt do it along time ago.

Does anyone know if this will affect my eligibility?

I'm not sure how they do background checks, but will there be an inconsitency with what the DPS has on file vs what I fill out on my app?

Boy this is going to be a long nail biting wait!

Thanks again
