Question About becoming an Instructor

I want to become an Instructor , What do I really need to know ( besides everything that I learned in the CHL class )or look forward to the class?

First thing is that the DPS sets up instructors on two year renewals. They go to extra lengths to make sure everyone renews on the odd years. That means if you went through the class this year, you would go again next year to get on the "odd year" schedule.

Second it's 40 hours of instruction jammed into 4 days. First day is about 12 hours. Couple of 10 or 11 hour days, and about a 9 hour last day. Those that stay awake through the entire 4 days do not get gold stars. It can become a grinder.
Anyone that reads and tries to understand this forum should have an easy time with certification.
It's a longer exam, with more questions. But not more difficult than the regular exam. 90% on the exam and shooting qualifier.

Positives: You will see that DPS really cares about "their CHL holders", and how solid the program really is.

Yes, they do. But for some of us, retention problems are cured by hanging out in this forum.

there' a lot of detail stuff. Like progressive payment scales for varying applicants, what does and does not constitute qualifications to apply for chl, etc.

well thats great to know , guess i need to hang around more.
i just want to be as prepared as i can be for the class.
i keep reading the booklet from thechl class over and over , but just seems like i`m miss something. i hate being unprepared for something.
