My front sight fell off!

Post by gregthehand »

Last night I was cleaning my customized Colt Commander. I recently had night sights installed by tthe gunsmith I take all my work to in Conroe. I guess the stake that holds it on wasn't tight enough because after I got done cleaning and loading it I looked down to see that the fron sight was missing! :eek6 I'm going to call him around lunch and let him know what happened. Hopefully all it will take is a thicker steaking plug.
My posts on this website are worth every cent you paid me for them.

I had an Officer's ACP that shot the recoil plug/spring downrange at the same time the front site fell off! :grumble
Had to stop the range line so I could go and get my parts! "rlol"

Anyway, took it immediately to a gunsmith and had a full length guide rod with reverse plug installed and a new set of Dovetailed Night Sites!
Been perfect ever since, and now it is with a new owner who has no complaints with it.

i hated to do it but i finally had to have a dovetail front sight put on my combat commander. had the gun twenty-four years and four times i raised the gun to shoot and no front sight. very frustrating. took it to a reputable 1911 gunsmith and he said if i wanted it for a lot of shooting the dovetail is the way to go.

I think I would be expecting a full refund. If the gunsmith refuses the tell him your posting his name on various gun forums.

I think that is a bit harsh for a sight attachment system that is KNOWN to fail in various Colt Models. :nono:
The gunsmith only did what the customer asked for.

:iagree: It's a design problem, not a workmanship issue.
