Austin Airport

Post by stash »

My brother and some of his family will have a two hour layover at the Austin Airport and I am thinking of driving up there to visit with him. Anyone in the Austin area know of any problems carrying in the terminal (not secure area).

Thanks - Stan

I'm relatively local so I hear the news, but I haven't been to the airport in quite a while. Should still be safe as long as you don't go past the metal detectors - just like you were thinking.

Thanks for the info fellows.

Should I see anything of a disturbing nature relative to carrying I will post.

The airport is probably government owned so even if it is posted and you stay concealed there should be no issue.

well on the 10th March I was there and carried and had no problems, I changed clothes in the mens room and packed my gun in my checked bag and on the 17th when I returned I reholstered in hte mens room and had to wait for 4 hours for me ride to get there and had no problems at all.

On my wait on hte 17th I talked to airport employees and 3 Airport police officers and not one of them ever knew I was carrying .

So I would say you are good to go at ABIA

There was a thread about ABIA a little while back, and it was verified that the airport is not posted. In the process of us trying to figure out if it was posted, I corresponded with the Assistant City Manager in charge of Aviation and verified with him that ABIA is no longer posted. Here's the thread:
