employment history

Post by sylus27 »

This is probably a question for the instructors on the site. I haven't worked constantly over the last 5 years due to school - there are a few months I didn't work. On my CHL application do I need to put "unemployed" for the dates in between jobs? I remember my instructor said no gaps for residence history but can't remember about employment. Thanks guys!

Yes, you should account for periods of unemployment. If you were a full-time student you can list that as your occupation.

I lost my job 2 weeks before I started the whole process, so I had to list "unemployed" at the time. I received my plastic a few days before starting my new job. I assume that their background check turned up the fact that I had been gainfully employed for the previous 30 years, so there was no problem with it.

I don't believe DPS actually checks with employers. They just want to know the county you work in so they can check for arrest/convictions. Your employment record is not a part of the requirements for issuing a CHL.
