Re: Holster for Colt Detective Special
Check out Bianchi's line. I have a model 3S that houses my SP101. I'm sure they have a similar model for the Detective Special.
Actually, the 3S fits the Colt pretty well even though it is not made for it. Bianchi does a great job of "boning" the leather to conform exactly to the shape of the gun.
I cut the retention strap off my 3S. No need for it. The holster is fit so precisely that it holds the gun just fine without it. I'm sure their Dick Special model will work out equally well.

Bianchi lists Model 3S 18018/18019 for Charter Arms, Colt, Ruger and S&W J-Frame snubbies and it seems to fit all quite well.

Re: Holster for Colt Detective Special
Thanks for the recommendations. I ordered a High Noon "Public Secret." The main reason I chose that model is the one-handed reholstering. I have had problems with softer leather that closes the holster opening after removing the gun. Also, it has a sweat shield that will help keep it from digging into my side. I will let you know how it does after I try it out a couple of times.
