Joe Horn of Pasadena, any news?

Post by Hamourkiller »

Any news about Joe Horn of Pasadena? As in has the Grand Jury looked at the case? Seems like a long time has gone by and no word.

His lawyer was on 740 KTRH earlier this week. He claimed all evidence has been turned in to the GJ and also says there is no indication if or when the GJ will hear the case.

I looked for the interview but did not locate it on their website.

I just read on Wikipedia (I know, I know, it's not 100% reliable) that a plainsclothes officer was there but in his car. Sorry if this is old new to ya'll but that seems very irresponsible considering the dispatcher knew it was a robbery and that Mr. Horn had a weapon.

Why would he not try and diffuse the situation?

I remember hearing that a plainclothes officer had pulled up when it happened, since nothing has happened yet with the grand jury I would guess nothing will.

A plain clothed officer, in an unmarked car would be foolish to intervene in this case. Joe would not have known he was an officer. He might have suspected the officer was the get-away driver. Running towards Joe Horn with a gun would be the epitome of stupidity. Look what running towards Joe Horn without a gun got the two BG's.

In any case, to the original question...The Grand Jury has had the case and all evidence since Dec of 2007. I believe the GJ is waiting for people to forget about the case before issuing the No Bill. Joe Horn will not be indicted. The prosecutor does not want an indictment. There is no way to find a jury that would convict. It would be political suicide for a DA to prosecute in this case.

Call it frontier justice if you want, but Joe Horn was legally justified in shooting under the Defense of 3rd Parties Property Statute.

I was told buy a Jersey Village cop that Joe Horn was being charged. Its good to hear this may have been a false statement.

I agree with all of those remarks. If the DA was pushed to prosecute, even he knows it would be a waste of time and taxpayer money. I think he would be more interested in prosecuting REAL criminals.

This whole case is a really one big can of worms, that is not plesant from any position you take on this...

It is complicated by speculation, and that is being exasperated by an election year political changeover in the Harris County DA's office...

The grand jury is not the entity that is holding resolution of this case up...

I also think that the people in TX are tired of bad guys in general and the da would have a hard time convicting him.
