Just when I think I have finalized my gun collection I manufacture a "hole" in my gun collection that needs to be filled and doggedly set out to fill it. I am amazed at what length I will go to to get the money for my next purchase. I'm selling things from around the house on ebay; squirreling money away in secret bank accounts; skimping on my wife's b'day gifts. etc. All the time engaging in bizarre rationalizations for why I need that next "perfect" gun.
Is this a sickness? The worse thing I ever did was to buy a gun safe - now I feel compelled to fill it.
Is there such a thing as weapons anonymous?
Am I alone?
As far as the safe, I predict you are goint to experience what I call "the rule of the tool box." I'm a mechanic and what I've noticed is that no matter how big a tool box you buy, it will always get filled to overflowing.
I have the same affliction. The chronic condition has become inflamed due to the progressive irritation by the Obama campaign. I'm making a list, checking it twice. I'm going to buy up a few guns while I can still get them at Pre-Obama pricing. I need a couple more Glocks, a BUNCH of magazines, still looking for the perfect AFFORDABLE 1911, a little S&W Airweight and an evil, black (or blonde) AK-47. That should make Obama's head spin!

Same here. I'm like a kid in a candy store at gun shows and I flit from vendor to vendor like a butterfly in a field of flowers.
I read forums here and elsewhere and learn about that new 1911 or some-such. Then I research this new (to me) firearm until I realize that I just can't continue life without it. Then, I get it, caress it, shoot it, put it on my shelf, and then repeat the process. Definitely an addict here. :)
The concept of a new administration certainly fuels my urgency to add to my collection and hold on to what I have. I figure we better get them while the goings' good.
We admitted we were powerless over the ownership of firearms and that our lives had become really swell because of it..
Came to believe that a Firearms Manufactors greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of Smith and Wesson, Colt, Sig Arms, Glock, etc..
Made a search of and fearless inventory of our gun safes and all of our hideout places.
Admitted to God, to ourselves and to other gun club members the exact nature of the firearms we really like.
Were entirely ready to have a good gunsmith remove all these defects in any pistol, shotgun or rifle we own.
Humbly asked God and the Range Master to remove our shortcomings in sight alignment, breath and trigger control.
Made a list of all persons we should have harmed, and became willing to do what is right by them before we go to the big range or game preserve in the sky.
Made direct shots at such targets wherever possible, except when to do so would only wound them or others.
Continued to take personal inventory of our firearms and when we have not purchsed a firearm in which we were wrong in not doing, so promptly admitted it.
Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious shooting ability, as we understood it, praying only for better knowledge and ability to keep all shots in the ten ring and the power to carry that out.
Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to gun owners and especially non gun owners and to practice these principles in all our daily affairs.
