It should be noted that this was literally a running gunfight, in the dark.

It's a good thing it didn't occur in a built-up area.

New Training Tactics

Post by Briankey »

Maybe a new shooting tactic be put in place, learn to run and shoot at a moving target at the same time, couldn't hurt.Instead of the usual standing in one position to fire and qualify with.

Cops could get a lot of Practice down in the Lower Class, Ghetto, Low Income Neighborhoods where all the drug dealers and Gangsta's hang out. They like to run and shoot at cops. Let's don't forget the Gang issues around the Nation is getting worse, especially in Texas with the Mexican Gangs, it would be best if LEO's started combat Training, Urban Warfare is already commonplace in a lot of Gang infested areas.

Whenever I visit my Lake Home in Louisiana, I go to the Sandpit, I do Practice running and shooting at a target, gotten Pretty good at it, unfornately its a stationary target, Not Playing Rambo here, but every situation you could face isn't the same, and you may need to run while firing and protecting yourself or family members.
I believe most Gangsta's, and thugs will be moving and dodging gunfire while committing a crime, so it only makes sense that you do the same. If anybody, like myself has been in the Military, you know how the training could save your life.

I would suspect it more likely that running while shooting was part of the problem, not the answer.

I can't access the story from this phone, but I'm curious just how far apart these two were when firing on each other?. I'm figuring a good distance if neither one got hits. And if they weren't far apart, then both were just shooting blindly, which could have been even more dangerous for innocent bystanders.

I don't think many would show up, unless it was mandatory.

Knowing what you can do and still get acceptable hits is an important part of training. There are some very smart & experienced trainers that are none too keen on shooting while running.
