NRA Life member specials

Post by O6nop »

I'm interested in becoming an NRA Life member, and like anything else, I want to get a good deal. So, I am wondering what to look for to get one at a low price. Currently, I pay annually
I've seen limited offers for around $300 if another lifer sponsors you. These offers are rare and usually communicated by word of mouth only.

Normally, the cost is $1000, I just got a mailing with a special where the cost is $600. With a paid in full payment, you get an official NRA leather jacket.

Does anyone have any suggestions on the best deal out there?
I believe there is safety in numbers..
numbers like: 9, .22, .38, .357, .45, .223, 5.56, 7.62, 6.5, .30-06...

Yesterday, I received a mailing about the Legacy Life program for family members where they can be enrolled at a discount.

The last time I got one of those coincided with a general discounted sponsor offer than was utilized by many here.

Perhaps Charles can tell us if there is another offering.

I got that same offer, and I'm going to enroll my wife.

Another board had some members give away their legacy life "coupons". Someone apparently called the NRA headquarters to ask about the program, and these coupons are apparently available to any (lifetime?) member who requests them (right now they're being sent out in a somewhat haphazard manner, from what I gather), and they are perfectly valid even if photocopied. They are for a life membership to the NRA for $300, according to this other board.

If all of that is true, then it is a wonderful deal and an excellent opportunity for anyone who is not already a lifer (but know one who will "sponsor" them) who can scratch together $300. I can't afford it right now, but I will join the NRA before the summer is over (on a year-by-year basis, for now).

If they are going for $300 - I'll upgrade my 3 year membership to life.

Unless my cut is increased I refuse to sponsor anyone this time around.

I need some more guns.

I just checked the websight and it has the life membership at 1000.00. Unfortunately I am bad about not reading everything that comes in the mail. I might have tossed it out. Was the 600 dollar offer in the magazine or was it sent in an envelope? As for the 300 dollar sign up, if anyone could help a brother out with a sponsorship recommendation, it would at the least get you a lunch and a trip for some free shooting at Bullet trap. I'll even supply the first box of ammo. :fire

This is why I was hoping Charles might have knowledge of another offer.

Here are relevant details from the offer.

"For the next 60 days, the NRA has reserved for you the opportunity to nominate a son, a daughter, grandson or granddaughter, niece or nephew as your Legacy Life Member of the NRA"

"At this time, only one Legacy Life Membership can be made available per Life Member."

"Life Membership credentials for your Legacy Life Member will be forwarded to you upon receipt of full payment, along with an Activation Form to be completed by your Legacy Life Member."

Key points:

The sponsoring member pays for the membership.

It is for a family member.

Credentials are sent to the sponsoring member.

This is clearly NOT the offer that so many here took advantage of recently, where all that was required was the membership information of the sponsor.

But that offer ran just after I last received the Legacy Life offer.

I have no more information that what I posted earlier other than the other board I saw it on was the Sig Forum. I did not mention that earlier because they often do not meet our standards of civility on their board. You'll find the thread in the Lounge section, if you want to search it out.
