In Harris County, just west of Highway 6 there is a park called George Bush Park. It is some kind of park or preserve and it is owned by the County (not the state or national gov't). There is a sign out in certain parts that says "No Guns." (interestingly it is also where American Shooting Center is located)
My question is, does "No Guns" apply to CHL holders? Doesn't their have to be a 30.06 posting in order for it to apply to CHL holders?
If I am wearing my .38 under my coat and am approached by a peace officer, will I be in trouble or will I be within the law?

Thanks Charles Cotton and Kalrog.
I thought 30.06 generally speaking was for private businesses. I knew it also applied to public parks. But I wasn't sure Geo. Bush Park was the same thing since it was county or state owned. I thought guns were prohibited by law in national parks and (I think) state parks without any sort of posted notice just like governmental buildings (courthouses, schools, etc.)
Strangely enough, I noticed the courthouse in Harrison County (Marshall) has the 30.06 posting on their doors.

Hi Doug. Welcome to the forum. I think you missed a small but significant point being made by Charles and Kalrog.
State, county, and local agencies can't prohibit carry on government property. They can post signs, but they are void and do not apply unless they're posted at a meeting of a governmental authority (like city council meetings). (The restricted places spelled out in law still apply, of course.)
That means that if a public park (not a National Park) has any "no guns" signage, even 30.06, you may legally ignore it.
