One more day...

Post by G.A. Heath »

1 more day folks!
Have you gotten your shotgun out yet?
Have you cleaned, inspected, lubed, and fired it yet?
Do you have your hunting license and all the endorsements you need for this year?

Are you ready?
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

I am ready. Too bad I won't be able to go till Thursday. Bad thing about working in a hospital, its open 24-7. Good luck and leave some birds for me.

Yes! I'm ready for Gustav and any looters or other ne'er-do-wells.

Wait. What?

For a minute there I thought you were talking about Gustav instead of dove season. ;-)

I spent a half day hunting today with a buddy of mine. The morning started off well and my first 2 shots each dropped a dove, but I went down hill after that. By around 9:30 there was nothing flying, but we stuck it out for a couple more hours working a couple different fields. I will be back out there this coming Sunday and will hopefully have a chance at some more birds.

BTW, I am hunting about 10 minutes west of Denton on 380. The lease we are on has 7 properties within a few square miles that are available to hunt, but limit the number of people per field so everyone has plenty of room. My buddy and I had a pretty good sized field to ourselves.

That seems really nearby for me. I'm not a hunter, but is there the possibility of buying in just for general range shooting and practice? Feel free to email or pm since this is off topic.

I doubt they will let the land be used for target/practice shooting. I am not sure if everyting is owned by 1 person, or if the man running the show is taking care of everyting for multiple people's land to help them get some extra money out of it.

The lease is inexpensive though, it was only $200 for the full season.
