Don't people know that carrying firearms is a privilege? Those people should just consider themselves lucky that the state lets them keep their firearms at home. Who do those subjects think they are, citizens?

Sounds like Sandra Hutchins may be looking to increase her re-election funds. It may be smart as a current licensee to reply within the 30 days with "I need to retain my license because I often carry large sums of money to be delivered to the local political candidates".

I can certainly understand her ire at her predecessor receiving all that money and her not being able to cash in as well.

I used to live in Contra Costa County, California.
If you wanted a CCW there you had to be a member of the sheriff's "Posse".
The requirements to join the posse were quite simple:
No felony convictions.
Good citizen.
Registered voter.
$5000 contributor to the sheriff's reelection campaign fund.

I wonder if anyone is investigating that guy.

If you wanted a CCW there you had to be a member of the sheriff's "Posse".
The requirements to join the posse were quite simple:

Registered voter.
$5000 contributor to the sheriff's reelection campaign fund.

I wonder if anyone is investigating that guy.

We did not have our CHLs because we could not afford the bribery (donation).

I think we're all in for a very rough ride if Obama is elected. Combine his hatred for 2A with a liberal Congress and Senate and I think anything is possible.

There was a time not too long ago when California was free. What happen there could happen here so we need to be ever vigilant and not allow our pride to cloud our vision. Let's keep Texas free and vote even if we don't have a perfect canidate for every office we need to vote for the best one and keep the bad apples out.

It was much the same in Albany County, NY (and Albany city), if you wanted a pistol permit, you had to be in with the political machine that controlled the county. The closest I ever came to having mine was when my (late) wife was counseling and becoming friends with the wife of the county supervisor. That chance ended when she caught him cheating on her. Oh the secrets I knew about him back then. Somebody should have investigated him, oops, they did, and he spent several years in the federal pen.

I used to live in Martinez and my dad grew up in Concord. First thing I did when I got to Texas is get my CHL.

I also grew up in Orange Country so this story makes me sad.
