The NFL and their policies on gun possession...

I tend to lean towards the issue being maturity, and desire (by some, not all) to pose as thugs in some cases for some players in the league...That is trouble waiting for the opportunity to present itself...

I believe most players in the league are great guys and do a lot for their communities in presenting a great, mature and responsible attitude to their fans...

Which is something we (gun owners) as fans emulate without the fanfare and salaries... ;-)

Plexico went to this club knowing the laws of that state and the ordinances of that city, he was admitted access by the security, and they knew he had a firearm on him...Since no one else was hurt besides himself, he had better count his blessings and take what the court gives him without conditions...

As far as the policies of the NFL, they are absolutely wrong on their position, period...Too many of their players become targets above and beyond most of the exposure most of us endure...Therefore it might be good idea that the league should extend and encourage those players who choose to do so to take certified instruction in the handling and operation of firearms from the NRA to do the best to weed out the thug culture associated with "guns"...

Most of these kids come into more money than their commonsense can catch up with...So getting some sort of break on costs and or availability of certified instruction should not be too much of an issue...What I mean is they don't need a break on this stuff, but the instruction should be made available...

What might be interesting to see is that through their carreers they might encounter teams that do not have the same kind of local freedoms others in other states and jurisdictions have where other players and teams are based out of...

This would, in my opinion educate and illustrate to high profile sports athletes that there are a wide ranging disparities in the right to keep and bear arms and create some high profile advocates for the removal of restrictions and infringements on everyone...

Just shooting from the hip on this...Just my opinion...

Texas law prohibits me from carrying at professional sporting events. I think that's worse than the NFL prohibiting NFL players from carrying.
