Well, Yesterday being a day off, I decided I would take my daughter to the range to sight in her new 10-22 that she got for Christmas. I bought her a Carbine model, took the stock off and replaced it with a Dragunov stock that I cleaned up and painted pink. I put a red/greendot on it to finish it off. I also brought along my 10-22 with the same stock-NOT PINK- I have a scope on top of it that also needed sighting in.
We got to Alpine and had to wait about 40 minutes to get on the 50 yard range. Once we got on the range we set about to sight in her new rifle first. After setting up the targets we went back to the bench and she pulled it out of the case. even with the muffs on, I could hear people saying "oh cool" or "I want one of those". I could see her smiling pretty big. I took us about 5 or six shots to get the green dot sighted in. It was with in 2 inches of POA from the box. Once it was "on" she finished off a box of 50, and then gave me a big hug and said "Thanks Dad, I love it".
After she was finished, we set up some new targets and I pulled out my 10-22. The Gamo scope that I bought from Academy sports really brought the target in close. Windage was right on but the elevation was by about 8 inches. I took me about 10 shots to get it right on. Resting the stock on a bench rest the shots were all within an inch or so of each other, well at least when I was doing my job. I handed the rifle to Rachel, first time she has ever used a rifle that had a magnifying scope on it. Her first shot was dead bull. The next 9 were all with in the bulls eye of the Shoot-N-See targets we were using.
Al in all it was a great day at the range with my Daughter. I could not have asked for a better New Years day.

Re: Range report
It's great to see Father/Daughter activities together. Family is more important than anything and one thing you will away remember or regret not doing. Thanks for the heart warming information.

Re: Range report
Days at the range with the kids are better than the best matches we can attend without them. I hope to be able to do that with my granddaughter in just a few more years.
Thanks for a great story.

Re: Range report
That's good stuff! Any day at the range is a good day but it is SO much better when you get to do it with your kids.
Again, good stuff!!!
