Bullet Registration Update

Post by Oldgringo »

Maybe the threat of laser registered bullets will go away...again. See below.

I received a copy of the email referenced in the article and was aghast.

I can see a very complex system to allow states to merge databases that would support a federal search of records. Probably wouldn't cost more than $100M to implement a trial system and no more than $40M per year to support for 5 years or so until all the bugs got worked out. Then it becomes a problem of recording correct information and getting rid of the entry errors. Oh yeah, I almost forgot the enforcement cost. Gee, that wouldn't be much because people would comply simply because it's the law.

Hmmm, then there's "collectible" bullets and museum exceptions for civil war relics, and what about the military. I guess DoD would'nt have a problem paying for this nonsense. And, importing ammunition would by default, be eliminated or Russia and China would be required to follow the same process. What a waste of time to even propose such bull.

It was refreshing (revolting is what I mean) to see that California did get as far as taking it through the committee process. Perhaps their current fiscal situation will ensure that they spend their money a little more responsibly and tell anyone who introduces such waste to take it back to the sewer they found it in.
