I realize this isn't AR15.com, but...

I have a question about my recently acquired, recently photographed, and newly posted S&W M&P15.
I took my newest family member to the range the other day, and had only one issue (other than the cost of ammo ), when I fully extended the stock (it comes with a 3-position collapsible), after the first shot, the thing would collapse down on me!
I can't figure out why, other than the little knob thingy is possibly worn, or something. any ideas, suggestions?

You should take the stock off of the buffer tube and see if the catch on the stock itself is worn or the buffer tube maybe worn or damaged. Or the spring for catch in the stock might be weak. I am sort of new to owning an AR myself, but there is so much info out there on problems and fixes I have tried to self educate and read others questions before posting my own. Strange problem you are having indeed.

You have a 4 position stock,all the way closed is counted also.when you extend the stock is there a positive click and does the stock lock in that position,can you push or pull without pushing in the release and have it move position,does the spring loaded lever have tension on it when you operate it or is the spring missing

Also make sure what type of buffer tube you have. It depends on whether you have a Mil-spec tube or commercial type from what I understand. I was informed by a friend when I loaned him a Command Arms Adjustable stock that did not fit as well as his OE M&P stock.
