How can I search on my own for any past due property taxes?

Post by Jon »

I tried the various records searches that came up on Google, but all seem to be paid services. Is there any way I can do this for free on my own to turn to turn up the same information that will show up on my background check? Same question for arrest records. I have a couple of misdemeanors, but do not know the dates. It's not just about the cost of paying for that information but more so being sure it's accurate with whatever Texas DPS background check is going to turn up. Thanks for any suggestions...Jon

For property taxes - almost all counties have a website where you can access this info. Looks like you are in Forney, so you would do a web search for Kaufman County Tax Office or Appraisal District. You should be able to find any taxes you owe and probably even pay them online.

For criminal offenses - contact the County Criminal Court clerk in the county where you were processed. Some of them will give you the info over the phone, some you have to send a written request to, and some you have to appear in person - just depends on the county. If you don't remember which countyit was, you can either call around to your best guesses, or you can spend a couple of bucks and look yourself up on http://www.publicdata.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. A one-time lookup is pretty cheap.

I believe that you can request ( and pay for) a DPS background report on yourself.

Here's the state portal for background checks. https://records.txdps.state.tx.us/DPS_W ... index.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
You buy "credits". iirc, it's less than $5 per search.
