Prayer for my mother in law...

Whether the need is great or small, there is power in prayer, especially when God's people raise their voices together.

Prayer for my mother in law...

Post by The Annoyed Man »

My mother in law had a bout of breast cancer a little over a year ago, and she had surgery and radiation therapy, and we thought she had beaten it. But she's been in and out of the hospital several times since early January for several other issues. During her last hospitalization, her doctor found that her breast cancer had returned in the form of metastases to her bones and liver. This is a very aggressive and rapidly growing type of cancer, and her prognosis was deemed to be terminal, with a few months to live. She was initially discharged to a nursing home for skilled nursing care, but today, after 30 days in the nursing home, she came home to our house and she is now an in-home hospice patient.

It appears that her time is near, and it looks like we're in for a hard time over the next few days.

Please pray that she doesn't suffer too much more pain, and that the Lord will take her home quickly and peacefully.

Thanks.

PS: Her name is Barbara.

Lord I pray for this precious mother-in-law, your child. Father I pray you will reveal your presence and peace in her, hold her hand during these hard times. Lord Jesus please relieve her of all pain and fill her heart with a clam spirit.

I pray for the family, Father that you will give them the strength and peace that is beyond our understanding. Lift them up and carry them through this storm...Father I ask in the name of your precious Son...Jesus. Amen

I'm so sorry to hear this. I lost a good friend in exactly the same way. Martha and I will pray for Barbara, your wife and you. Lord, you know our needs before we speak; please strengthen this family as only You can Father.

Do you have pain meds for her right now? They were able to keep my dad pain free in this last time.

God answers prayers and let my Dad pass quickly. My prayers for her.

Thank you all for your continued prayers. It means a lot to know that there are intercessors in the world.

Yes, we do. The hospice nurse who "admitted" her into our home had a pharmacy deliver some pretty potent stuff. We're still trying to find that line between keeping her pain free, and keeping her conscious enough to participate in the family to the extent that she can in the time she has left. The hospice nurse will be back today to help us figure that one out. It was midnight by the time the drugs were delivered.

At a certain point, pain management will become more important. Remember that to avoid pain.

Prayers sent for Barbara.
