S&W 41

A fella I work with (retired Texas Ranger) has a S&W 41 with the milled iron sights (non-removeable). He and I both are curious whether there is any way that we could add a red-dot (since it is a flat top, pre-picatinny rail) on the top of the 41, or if the front sight can be milled to put a [abbreviated profanity deleted] sight up front. He's retired Ranger, and has not-so-perfect sight in low-light situations to see that front sight. Just helping a brother out in the process though. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
