Good evening my brothers and sisters. I have posted a thread about moving to Houston a few weeks back. To make a long story short, I am a recent graduate accountant, and I took a job offer for a drilling company in February and moved from Lubbock to Colorado City (and commute daily to Snyder from CCity). End of April, a CPA firm in Houston has asked for me to come down to interview. They know I have a lease here in CCity, the job, and moving expenses to pay for if I am to move down there, and the lease does not expire until January 2010. The firm emailed me this morning inquiring bout the cost of moving and getting out of the lease, as they need my help in the next two months or so.
I am asking for the faithful, if you will, help me in seeking the Lord's will in this matter. My wife and I trust the Lord will take care of the matter, but as He made it apparent for us to move to CCity and me take the job in Snyder, our prayer is that He will make it abundantly clear, without obstacle, if this job in Houston is the right choice for us, and if we should proceed in this timeline. We thank you so much for sharing with us in this joy as well, if He truly makes this possible, as well as joyous in knowing, if He so chooses, that we stay here and serve him the way it is currently.
Thank you, and my apologies for a long post.
Brandon

I don't understand your question so I'll ask you a question, "what are your options"? In the words of the late Timothy Leary, "If it feels good, do it".
Re: Job Decision & Moving
Lord I lift up Brandon and his wife to you and Lord we ask that you would give them wisdom and peace in this matter. We ask thy will be done and we know all things are possible with You, when you close one door You will open another and we ask for the strength and wisdom to go through that door with confidence of your will. If this be thy will Lord make the way clear to Brandon and give him peace.
Brandon, when we ask God for wisdom and guidance, He will give it. It is up to us to pray and seek Him and when the answer comes you will know it. Remember, ask yourself these questions, do I have the peace of God in my heart, will this go contrary to God's written word. and did God open the door, or did I kick it down...If all of these three things line up... you will have your answer. When you receive God's answer, act upon it and never look back or second guess it. The just shall walk by faith.
God Bless You,
-george

Re: Job Decision & Moving
PRO's - Moving to Houston **************************** CON's - Moving to Houston
New City ******************************************************** New City
New people ******************************************************* New people
More Money? ******************************************************** Costs More to Live
etc ******************************************************** New Church Home, finding housing, finding schools, etc...ect.
Take out 2 pieces of paper. One for you, one for wife. Without discussing, each write every PRO you can think of...now trade papers and add more to the other person's paper - some of her thoughts might jog your idea makers to think of more. Do the same for the CON's. After the brainstorming, add a point value to each item. Add them up.
The points you assign will be based on how important YOU think each item is. Are you happy with where you are? - then add more points to the CONS of moving. Once all these items are out, the decision is usually pretty clear.
One big CON for me woudl be the 95 degree summers with the 90 % humidity ... and having to chew your air before breathing
Good luck
Doug

My biggest beef with Houston is the traffic, it sucks big time.

Re: Job Decision & Moving
Thank you all for Praying first and foremost. My wife and I sought the Lord that he would make the decision apparent, as to what we should do regarding the sudden move potential. He works things out according to His will, and has allowed for us to stay here. Now the thing to consider is where we will live on February 1, as our lease expires Jan 31, and the firm still needs/wants us in January of 2010. However, I'm not certain if the firm in Houston is what the Lord wants us to do, but as you all have mentioned, one thing for certain is to make sure that what He wants for us to do, He will make available... as well the pros/cons of living in Houston is a definite comparison shopper's nightmare :)LaserTex wrote:PRO's - Moving to Houston **************************** CON's - Moving to Houston

Thanks Doug for your insight. I greatly appreciate it. We love SA as well, and would love to be there as well. Some days the air has to be cut up and chewed there as well. Thank you all again, and I look forward to meeting you all soon if and when we go down to the "God's country".
God bless.
