Re: Well... changed my mind on the gun I want
I too am left eye, right hand. When I went through this change of life (yep - that is what happened - as I was told, as visual acuity declines in the older stages of life or from just bad vision, the brain adjusts to a better seeing eye), I also had to adjust. I got a bunch of recommendations about what to do - shoot left handed, closing right eye, close left eye, black out glasses on either eye, twist weapon to align sights for left eye, whatever. The best recommendation I got was from another left eye-right hand that said to shoot right handed and adopt a position of using both eyes, wide open - really wide open, sorta deer in headlight look, and let your eyes and brain focus on the front sight and the target. Sort of like point shooting - just becomes intuitive. Once you get used to it, it then becomes natural to just go from ready to on target and you hit where you aim. You can lose the wide open eye look as you progress. Who would have the time to remember that a weapon is on the left side, twist and align sights, or which eye to close in in a forced situation anyhow??evil_smurf wrote:I just got back from taking a one-on-one course at Champion, and they convinced me to shoot left handed since I am left eye dominant.
The XD-9 is a GREAT choice! That's my "playin' around" gun. It's a Service and I've had a couple of modifications done. Got a four lb. trigger job (a-la Canyon Creek) and have TFO's installed. The last thing I'll have done to it (Well, it's bein' done right NOW, as a matter of fact) is DuraCoat. That should just about top it off! I'm eager to see the finished product. Should be pretty sweet!
Right now, I'm plannin' on letting it "season" for 30 days before reassembling. Of course, I may change my mind about that.
At any rate, I'm glad that you liked the XD enough to order one. You'll LOVE it! You'd love it even MORE with a trigger job!

On the XD - great choice. And don't worry about your selection changing. Mine changes all the time, that is why I have more than 1 gun.evil_smurf wrote:i have a question about the application though. on the "PASSPORT PHOTO HOLDER" page, on the "Application/License Number" section, what the heck do I put there? I don't even have a license yet!
And you don't have a license yet, but you DO have an application, right? So use the application number. It has one.
