Of course...you'll never convince some folks it is true. I participated in a discussion about just this subject last year (starting about post #38) and some people will not be persuaded.

Overseas my team had heavy-duty HK mags for our M4s. We kept them loaded 24/7 and never worried about it.

I found the part about changing ammo around as pretty useful.

One thing I would like to add that I didn't see covered in the article is a warning about +1,+2 or other mag extensions where a new, longer spring is not included. When we load a "+" mag there is a good chance we may be going beyond the "limit" described and bending the spring as we load especially +2 mags.

I have two Glock 21 mags with +2 extensions that I keep loaded with HP and only shoot about once a year. I have had them since around 2003. Even with HP I have never had a problem but am aware of the possibility and only use them as back-up to my back-up mags. So, the tolerances of those mags may be good enough to allow for +2 but I wanted to put that out there for anyone who uses them to pay attention on how mag extensions may affect the cycling. Especially the last round or two.

The only other argument I have read, maybe here, is that the welds on the mags may give if the mag is fully loaded and bumped around. This is mainly for larger cap rifle mags but could include cheaper pistol mags. The only time I have ever seen a rifle mag weld break is when I ran over it and found it months later. It was also an inexpensive mag for my XM-15 and the body was dented too so it was useless anyway. I would think if the weld breaking under so little stress is a problem the mag is junk and shouldn't be used.
