I saw a promo for this show last night. I don't remember when it will air for the first time. It looks like it could be interesting. The claim is that it will not argue any specific political perspective, but I'm always cautious. The promo's already have me raising an eyebrow (promo's can be seen in link). They seem to lean towards the "glorification" aspect of ownership. Hopefully this is just marketing spin to grab viewers (which is kinda a problem in itself).

Re: Showtime "Lock n Load" reality series
Showtime is not a place I would expect to find the truth in anything. Especially about gun ownership or anything else perceived as a conservative stance or outside their view of a socially expectable individual choice.
I expect hostile editing, half-truths and outright lies. Most of these types of shows degrade the quality of the picture to include sharpness and color to show gun owners and shooting activities as less then desirable. I expect they will further confuse civilian auto-loading guns with military select-fire and automatic weapons that are very highly restricted or totally unavailable to even the most law abiding. They will use debunked stats and studies. They may give anti-gun types more time and better edited responses. They will show "Bubba" the run down trailer park redneck as spokesman for all gun owners/conspiracy theorists/UFO abductees. Oh yea, I forgot road-kill chef in his description. If they don't do all these things and more, I will be really shocked. Arguing politics isn't necessary if they are able to use editing and hunter only types to say how they don't think handguns or so called "assault weapons" aren't necessary for anyone to own or that anything but a single shot .22 is a cop killer gun.
We will see but experience tells me this is just another attempt by another group to convince viewers that gun owners are wrong and odd in the least.
