Confessions of a Gun Grabber...

Post by G.A. Heath »

I hate to admit it, but I have to come clean. I am a gun grabber. I see a gun that is fun, interesting, different, or otherwise catches my fancy and I have to grab it if I can afford it. In two weeks I have spent over $1300 on two new handguns and ammunition for them. My first grab in this sweep was a Beretta PX4 Storm (Model/Type C) in .40 S&W. The rotating barrel, and quasi-double action trigger interested me. My second grab was a Taurus PT24/7 OSS long slide model in .45 ACP with night sights (not those so-called night sights on the Beretta). The night sights, DA/SA trigger, decocker, and feel interested me and seeing how I could afford it I had to get it too.

The Beretta needs some modifications before I am willing to consider it for carry. The first modification is a Hogue grip sleeve as the grip gets real slick when you have sweaty hands. The second modification it will need is an improved set of sights, after all why would one want glow in the dark sights that have to be charged from a light source? After that I am probably going to consider a metal guide rod to see if that affects the percieved recoil like it did on my XD. Once I do this I will get a holster and possibly consider it for carry.

The Taurus needs no modifications to considered for carry, at this time all I am lacking is a holster and enough time and ammo to break it in properly. If I didn't want to get into my practice ammo for my daily carry I could have broken it in already, but what little ammo I can scrounge up will have to do for now. I am also going to look into the possibility of a non-captive guide rod for this one also.

But at least I am the good kind of gun grabber...
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

For right now you have it under control. At some point I decided I liked high end handguns. I grab guns at 1300 bucks for one.

It started out small about 30 years ago when I purchased my first revolver. S&W 686 from Oshmans...LOL...they are the only place that would give me a credit card back then. In the next couple months I had bought a Colt Gold Cup series 80 and a Ruger Redhawk in Stainless steal.... It has only gotten worse :bigear: .

If I wasn't married to a "grocery & mortgage payer grabber" I'd certainly be more of a gun grabber.

I confess, I am a gun grabber too. Grab one every morning right after I put my pants on. :thumbs2:
