Bar with no 51 posted?

Post by geoelectro »

Last night, I went to a reunion at Bayou City Wings in Pasadena. I entered in the restaurant side but quickly found out the reunion was held in the bar side which is a separate room. I decided to disarm before going in. After going in, I searched for any 51 signs and even searched for a displayed liquor license. Nothing! The only sign I found was a No Smoking and the typical Gun Buster sign saying no unlicensed guns allowed at the bar entrance from the outside. The entrance from the restaurant had no such signs. The entrance to the restaurant only had No Smoking as I recall. I did spend more on food that I did beer so at least in my case, the liquor was less than 51%.

I'm puzzled, This is a bar, but they do serve food as well. Should I assume there is nothing preventing a CHL carry there?

It is likely the license is for the whole place, They serve up a lot of chicken wings and other fare, especially during the lunch time hours. It most likely isn't a 51%er place.

I would not call the sign you saw a "Gun Buster" sign.

It's required by the TABC when an establishment sells alcohol for on or off-site consumption and on-site alcohol sales are less then 51% of their gross revenue.

You would have been legal to carry depending on your own alcohol consumption.

I assure you they have their liquor license displayed somewhere on the premises. I would have asked where it is to go look at it. That's what I had to do to check out Gilligan's in Arlington.

:iagree:

A gunbuster sign is a ghostbuster sign with a gun instead of a ghost.
