Thanks to all and Initial Carry Outings Impressions

Post by wrightcrew »

I received my CHL in the mail about a week ago. I've been mainly a reader on this board since I submitted my paperwork back in March. THANK YOU to all on this board for your thoughts, insights, and well-mannered discussions!

My employer does not allow weapons on company property, and I have been doing mainly home improvement projects on my off days, so there have been just a few short opportunities to exercise my 2A right since receiving the plastic. But, last night we had a handful of errands to run after dinner, so I donned my Comp Tac paddle (great holster, by the way) and Springfield XD SC and headed out. We stopped at three different places, and I had no problems at all. I think all of the posts I had read on this board had prepared me for my first few outings.

Exercising the right to carry brings with it an increased level of responsibility. I knew this on an academic level before the plastic arrived, but I really internalized the concept in the last week as I started carrying.

Again, thanks to all on the board for your willingness to share knowledge with us newbies.

Be safe.

Glad to hear your first week was so successful!

I am new to this board as well, and have yet to take my class(next few weeks if all goes well), but I have already learned mountains worth of wisdom on this subject here and made a few friends in the process. Great community here with amazing insight and information!

To hear this from a "new to carry" will really emphasize the importance of the practice time & home carry while in the WR. Thank you for the post. Knowing that it has helped will keep us old timers on the encourager ball too. Welcome aboard.

Welcome to the Forum, Wrightcrew.

And, I wanna see pictures of that holster!

I swear, I feel like a space alien checking for XD-SC stuff around here.
No one has anything to fit, mod, tweak, or carry the darn thing.

...Bill walks into local DFW Gun Shoppe...
Proprietor: "Can I help you sir?"
Bill: "Well, I hope so. See, I have this Springfield XD Subcompact an..."
Proprietor: "Leper! Outcast! Unclean!"
Bill: "Righhhht. I'll take that as a No, then."

Bill -

I'll get a photo of the holster up in the next day or so.

Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with Comp-Tac. But, I had a great experience with them and will order again from them. I ordered my holster on a Monday and had it in my hands on Wednesday (yes, two days later). They build after you order, but they have a very short turnaround time. You can check out their stuff at http://www.comp-tac.com.

+1 for Comp-Tac. Their Gurkha is my primary carry holster & it is rock solid, comfortable, & conceals great.

Welcome! I've still got quite a wait to go, but it's always good to see it come through for others!
