Kahr MK40 Range Report
After buying my MK40 two weeks ago, I finally had a chance to break it in on Saturday.
On the third round of the first magazine I fired.... jam (ftf). Knowing of the rare but serious problems that happen with these guns, this caused my heart to sink.
I racked the round out of the chamber and fired 200 rounds through it with absolutely no problems. Whew!
I fired WWB, some cheap Federal, Speer Lawman, some of my Federal Hollowpoints and some miscellaneous rounds that I had lying around.
My other CCW is a Glock 23. It has a 4" barrel and weighs about 22oz. unloaded.
The MK40 has a 3" barrel and weighs about 25oz. unloaded.
The perceived recoil, surprisingly, seems to be a little less on the MK40. Also, I seem to be just as accurate with it as I am with the 23.
I think I am going to add some skateboard tape to the front of the grip even though it only started to get hard to hold around 150 rounds or so. (Maybe even get my dad to make some grips for it... hmm...)
Aside from that initial scare the gun ran flawlessly.

Re: Kahr MK40 Range Report
Glad to hear of an overall good range report. I share your impressions/observations relative to perceived recoil and accuracy. Hope that you like yours as much as I like mine. It's my EDC and goes with me just about everywhere.

I purchased a MK 40 with night sights and it should be in this week (after an 11 week wait) . I bought it under Kahr's NRA instructor program which comes directly from Kahr (hence the long wait). I got night sites and 2 extra magazines with it. Hopefully my first trip to the range will be this Friday and hopefully it will go as well as yours ( I owuld be happier if there were no FTF's!). Have you purchased any holsters for it yet?

Re: Kahr MK40 Range Report
congratuations on the new MK. I'm glad to hear the malfunction was a one time event. It's kinda funny how one person will give a pretty glowing range report, then within the first half dozen positive responses there will be three unhappy customers that will do all they can to destroy the manufacturer.... and it's normally the same three of four that spread their discontent across the entire gun community on the web.
I really wanted the MK9 for a while, but decided to watch the budget a couple of months ago and picked up the CW9. It's been a flawless joy to shoot and carry. Funny thing though, since watching the budget on the Kahr, I have bought two new rifles in the last three weeks. There went the budget

It's not gun control that we need, it's soul control!

I can't remember seeing this before, but it must be EveryDay Carry?

Yes. I have the Galco Stow-n-go. I bought it because I wanted something I could just throw on and walk out the door. I personally don't like the plastic J-clip that is on it and wish it had a metal clip but it works very well for what it is. I can wear a t-shirt that is not very baggy at all and the MK just disappears at 3:00.mrvmax wrote:Have you purchased any holsters for it yet?
If I could I would trade it for the Galco Walkabout. It is identical to the Stow-n-Go but it has a mag pouch in the front of the holster. It is an interesting idea that I would like to try out.

I will add my review since I finally got mine this week and fired a few rounds through it. I had one FTF in 100 rounds and no other problems. The gun shot better than expected, the target in the pic was shot with
