Small Carry

Did some searching but havent found what I was looking for. Wondering if I was looking for a small carry gun as either a secong gun or a quik running to store and dont have time to put holster on what would be recomended as a good little gun. Ive looked at deringers and now im looking at the LCP by ruger in .380 but im sure there are more. I was thinking something in the overall length like 4 1/2 to 5 inches. Thanks for any help. Im def a larger caliber person but realize when going small you limit your choices.Would 22 mag be better then 380

I love my LCP - haven't found a time that IT was too bulky to car. Slide her in your pocket and little Elsie Pea will purr like a happy cat.

I like steel guns, so I recommend the North American Arms Guardian 380. It fits into my hip pocket with no problem.

I just picked up a Sig Sauer P238, its basically a mini 1911 in .380.

Also check out the Kahr PM series (PM9,PM40,PM45). I've shot a PM9 and its a sweet little pistol,barely bigger than my Sig.

And no, .22mag is not in the league of .380...

I really like my LCP with the clip (Kel-Tec belt clip adapted to fit the Ruger). It's the handiest little thing. But it's not a lot of fun to shoot at the range and it's not nearly as easy to shoot accurately as my somewhat-larger Kahr CW9.

I would suggest a Ruger LCP or a Kel-Tec P3AT... if you want to spend another $200 then maybe a Kahr P380 would be a more refined piece (it does have a stainless slide and barrel, and has real sights). But once you are into the PM/MK Kahr size class (9mms) then you are into carrying with a holster and there are many choices.

If you HAVE to have 9mm or bigger and want a really slim pistol it's hard to beat the Kel-Tec PF9. Walther PPS is close but 2x the price.

I have a Micro Desert Eagle. Shoots accurately and when you run out of Ammo you can throw it at someone.

The Kahr PM series is not that big, can be easily carried in a pocket holster. The MK series on the other hand is holster carry.

PM and MK are almost identical dimensions... You mean the weight? FWIW I think all of those 9mm+ Kahrs are WAY too big for pocket carry, but again, I am not in the norm among TX CHL holders in terms of wardrobe or body type.

And the PM and MK series are just as thick as the P/CW/K etc. Kahrs. The grip and barrel are 1/2" shorter each but otherwise they are just the same size. It's not the length of the barrel or even usually the grip that makes the difference in how easily they carry, but the thickness.

And by the way, the Taurus 709 is not in the same size class as these little .380s. It's right in line with the Kahr CW/P/K series or a Kel-Tec PF9, Walther PPS... That's a good size for carry but not nearly as convenient as the little .380s like LCP/P3AT/P380.

I purchased a couple of LCP's last September, and even though I occasionally carry my 40 XDM IWB, my LCP with an Armalaser is my daily carry.

It shoots fine for what it is, and is super easy to conceal in any situation.

You might want to consider a Walther PPK. I have one and it is really slim and light. A very easy carry. Down side is it is a lot more expensive than most of the other choices listed here. If you just want a "working" gun, the LCP is very hard to beat from any angle; but, if you need a small gun and are looking for an excuse to flesh out your collection (this is usually my strategy), the PPK is a lot of fun and a pretty cool piece.
