If guns kill people...

Post by randomoutburst »

I found a new favorite response to those who claim that guns cause violence, guns kill people, etc....
If guns kill people, then bread kills, too! (Criminals use bread, but you know what else? Juvenile delinquents come from households that stock bread, too)

Found it funny. But then, things dripping with sarcasm typically are.

Well done. I took a course in statistics in college years ago and the only thing I still remember and use daily is this: It is easier, and far more persuasive, to lie with numbers than with words.

Darn, I might still be married if I had paid more attention in stats class.

(Factoid)....100% of all divorces are caused by marriage.

LOL yeah, I like the logic ...it isn't the "thing in the hand" which "causes" but rather the operator of that device.

Either "device in the hand" can be used for good or evil, depending on the Operator.

(Australia has more deaths by sizzors than guns, and has more violent crimes than we do.)

While working in Norway, I got tired of all the "America is horrible because everyone has guns and people are getting shot all the time" crap I heard over and over. :banghead: So I did some research and found that your odds of being physically injured (including death) from the actions of another were not apprieciably different here versus Norway. The major difference was in Norway the weapon of choice was an AX. I would much rather be shot than chopped. :fire
Reasonable gun control is hitting your target with the first shot.

But only 40% of the time are those 98% of statistics made up..... and, assuming you use a LARGE standard deviation for a margin of error and aquire the sample group very selectively to represent a desired target population rather than a general population, perhaps even just 30% of the time 98% of statistics are made up..

Way more people get killed in automobile accidents than are killed by gunshot wounds. Point here is that you don't see any big political lobbyist fighting to ban automobiles. :headscratch

Also knives are more deadly than guns, you run a higher percentage of recieving a fatal stab wound than a fatal gunshot wound(no bull) If I remeber correctly over 50% of stabbings are fatal and only around 30% of shootings are fatal. And every household in America has knives and usually quite a few of them. So why are the left wingers not banning knives because they are horrible killing weapons? :headscratch

This is just two examples of how politically rigged this "guns kill people" agenda is.
If guns kill people, then pencils misspell words.

All guns have at least two safeties. One's digital, one's cognitive. In other words - keep the digit off the trigger until ready to fire, and THINK. Some guns also have mechanical safeties on top of those. But if the first two don't work, the mechanical ones aren't guaranteed. - me
