South East Dallas.

Recently, I had to be working out of an office in south Dallas. Just 4 miles south of Dallas downtown. Yesterday, I decided to drive around for few minutes. I was like am I still in USA? or is it Mogadishu? Man! it is just South of HW-30 and East of HW-45. Just few miles from Dallas Downtown. Extreme poverty, "dudes" hanging around each other corner, boarded up each other house.

Hard to believe isn't it. I have visited several third world countries, mostly on business, and to see some of the same images in this country that I saw abroad...it really makes you think.

I was in that area for about 1 hour last week. You forgot to mention all the Pit Bulls
chained up in the back yards / driveways. Lots of men standing around, hanging out,
doing nothing. I did see a few houses where the owners were trying to keep it painted
and cleaned up. But lots of boarded up properties, tires dumped on vacant lots, 1 guy
urinating out in the open in a residential area while his "crack" driver sat in a white
Jaguar by the curb. Drug dealer? I'm not LEO, but my guess is yes.
Complete saturation by DPD. Zero tolerance by Code Enforcement. Like it or not, that's
the only solution at this time that might make a small dent in the problem.

Same thing you saw in Dallas was present in The Bronx, Chicago and L.A. in the 70's. And from what I read about Detroit lately, East Dallas is lookin' up by comparison.

lol My husband works on 183/360 s. of DFW and says the very same thing about his work area. I believe they regularly witness Johns and their lady friends doing what they do right in the back of their parking lot!

And Fair Park is just a few miles east of there. That's the very reason I would never be in that area unarmed, and never ever after dark.

Some of the facility's that I work at from time to time are located in the larger city's Chicago, LA, San Francisco, Atlanta, Miami, Houston, and so on. What we are seeing now in the DFW area has been around some of these other places for some time. As unemployment goes up and gang memberships increase it will continue to grow in our own backyards as well.

Anyone ask why I feel the need to carry gets a DAYTIME tour of Fairpark, it just takes one trip. Then I hear allot of "well I just wouldn't go down there" which is a good idea, however the BG's do not mind crossing out of the indentifiable boundries and staking claims in other area's as we are seeing happen in the mid cities area's.

Just a few years ago when I started reading post on this forum I felt sorry for the members in Houston. My first thought was that I was glad things were not that bad around DFW. Well guess what!

I am not paranoid, but at the same time I really do not feel safe and secure anywhere which is a very sad thing in my opinion.

Yeah, there are a number of areas in and around Dallas that are very scary.

CBS reported that the area around the five points intersection is one of the most dangerous areas in Dallas.

I found another report from a Pittsburgh station that the 9th most dangerous neighborhood in the U.S. is at 2nd Ave and Hatcher. The twelfth most dangerous neighborhood was around Route 352 and Sceyne, which is less than a mile N/NW from 2nd and Hatcher - I'm not sure what delineates the two.

That's the area I have been working as a contractor (computer) in for 5 years now, off Walton Walker/Leadbetter at Cockrell Hill Rd.. I can't carry in the office (fed building) so I have to disarm in my car and walk 100-200 yards from parking lot to building depending on where I get a spot. The building has armed gaurds, but not the lot where I park (visitor/contractor) and after dark this is not a good neighborhood, however it seems to be getting worse even during the day.

This is one of the primary reasons I finally got the CHL, where I work and the decline of the area.
