Followup on G36 jamming

Post by OldSchool »

I mentioned in another post that we were having some jamming with our new-used Glock 36 during our CHL qual (plus one evident misfire for the Mrs., which she handled beautifully! :eek6 ). The jamming didn't really give us any trouble, but slowed down our shooting some....

As we thought, the problem and the (temporary) solution were the same thing: The new extended slide lock lever. The slide lock was moving sluggishly and not getting out of the way in time while the slide was moving, and would thus sometimes lock the slide; we quickly learned to just reach over and use the lever to unlock the slide.
Cause: The lever was made for all Glock models -- except the G36! :nono:

We have the old slide lock to put back on if necessary, but before we come to that we (with the help of the Glock armourer) are trying a bit of customizing (yes, we are hot rodders from way back), trimming the tab and relieving where it was rubbing the frame; we ran 19 rounds through it yesterday with only one hitch (probably due to the heartbreak of LW). Another few hundred rounds will tell for sure (donations accepted...).

Oh, yeah, I put +1 extensions on two of the mags, and they really do help the grip.

Very nice piece, and Mrs. OS will probably have this for her carry gun (she loves .45!). :thumbs2:
Life is for learning.
IANAL, thank gosh!
