A gun filled Christmas...My New Ruger 22/45! (Pic)

Post by kalipsocs »

I totally didn't expect it, but my mother's boyfriend surprised me with a $400 gift certificate to Bass Pro. Honestly, I am not a big fan of Bass Pro because a lot of their firearms are overpriced and its less diverse than Cabela's in the firearms/firearms accessories. Still, it was very generous and much appreciated. I have been wanting a .22 pistol for awhile so I figured it was the perfect moment to seize the opportunity. Has yet to be shot, but Bass Pro gives you the first range trip for free! Try to get out there tomorrow and give range report.

Wow! That pad lock is almost as big as the pistol.

Double Wow! $400 gift certificate to Bass Pro. What's not to like (except maybe lugging around that huge pad lock).

Bass Pro in Grapevine has a good indoor range. Only $10 per hour.
Guns are like parachutes, if your ever in a situation that you need one and you dont have one, you'll probably never need one again.

That's a fun gun. Congrats!

Very nice. He donated a few thousand dollars to Grace in Grapevine as well to help out with the holiday season. If everyone in the world could be a quarter as generous as he has been, we would live in a much better world. Thanks for the compliments!

Since it's model is a "22/45", does that mean you can switch out
the barrel/magazine and shoot .45?

I'm not familiar with the pistol, but I give it a big thumbs up
for looking like a Luger P08.

Ha, I wish!! No, it's controls (safety, mag release, slide release) and grip angle is supposed to mimic a 1911. So, theoretically, you can practice with the Ruger and have that translate easily to the 1911. At least, that's what they are trying to sell you on. ;-) To me that was a bonus, but not a requirement. I don't like the extreme grip angle on the regular Mark III series; this version pointed much more naturally. Guess I have become accustomed to my CZ P-01 and Colt Commander, so it was an easy choice.

You should see the one that comes with the LCR. It weighs more than the gun!

A 22/45 target model was the first gun I ever bought. I still have mine. It has been a very good pistol.

At the time, it was on sale for $200 at Carter's Country. They are priced higher now.
