Good info. I followed your link and sent Starbucks the following message:

It is my understanding that Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence is attempting to bully Starbucks into banning handgun carriers from your stores, especially in California. I just wanted to show my support of your decision, so far, to not be swayed by this group. Let the laws of the state be the guide, not some special interest group like the Brady bunch campaign. Thanks for your support of American civil liberties.

Just sent my hearty THANK YOU to Starbucks. Added my own little twist and thanked them supporting the right for women with concealed handgun licenses to protect themselves and their children while they indulge in their Starbuck's addiction. I sent it as a comment under "corporate social responsibility".

I lived in Ft. Wayne, IN, when Paul Helmke was mayor of the city. Suffice it to say that he has not grown more reasonable with age.

Even though I'm not really a coffee drinker, I may have to stop by my (nearest) Starbucks and have a cuppa, just because.

I write to wholeheartedly DISAGREE with the Brady Campaign's demand that you make many (all?) of your stores "gun-free zones". I doubt that your patrons are really better armed than a SWAT team! Please do not bow to these bullying tactics. I actually feel safer in your stores knowing that my fellow patrons may also be carrying a handgun for their own and their family's protection. Thank you for allowing us to exercise this essential right while we enjoy a frappuccino.

I sent one as well. I actually visited the BC website earlier today to have myself a laugh and was surprised to see their new campaign plastered over their homepage. I don't frequent Starbucks but those tactics are asinine. It's a shame that an interest group gutting the bill of rights can hide behind such an innocent slogan as "Preventing Gun Violence".

I dislike both Starbucks and The Brady Bunch. During 9/11 a Starbucks in New York Charged a rescue worker $130.00 for 3 cases of water.

Under the law, Starbucks has the right to adopt a gun-free policy, with an exception for uniformed police officers. Such a policy can easily be implemented in most cases by putting up signs at store entrances.

I'm 99.9% sure that a private business cannot ban NON-uniformed police officers from carrying a gun, nor other law enforcement personnel (Feds, state, county, municipal) or licensed security personnel (personal bodyguards) from carrying concealed while wearing "plain clothes".

Frankly, this is the way it should be for CHLs too.

Open carry of an unloaded pistol is perfectly legal in California. There is a movement there, supported by Calguns among other organizations, of "pushing back" a bit by exercising that legal right. So since the law requires the gun to be unloaded, how can an unloaded gun be an intimidating threat? It is still an idiotic assumption on the Brady Campaign's part.
