gun friendly attorney?
I'm not real sure where to post this so if its in the wrong place then I appoligize.Does anybody happen to know one in the south Dallas or Waxahachie area?I would like to find one and have their business card just in case I ever need one.I hope I never need one,but you just never know.Everyone talks about being prepared for anything, which gun, which holster, which ammo is the best, but I've never seen anything about this subject.Heaven forbid, but if any of us are ever involved in a self defense shooting we will certainly need one.I for one would like to be prepared ahead of time. What you think abouth this? sj

They sure had an interesting pitch at the show.S&W6946 wrote:You might check out "CHL Protection Plan" at http://www.chlpp.com.
Did you ever get to make the phone call and compare it to what you have?
Cyphur, I've talked to Rick Mackey, the President of CHL Protection Program and got some clarifications on their coverage. I have an email into Prepaid Legal asking them about how they handle CHL incidents and how their coverage compares. Honestly, I'm leaning toward CHL Protection because they specialize in CHLs. If I'm involved in an incident, I want an attorney that is friendly to CHL holders. I'd think I stand a better chance of that with CHL Protection.
I'll let you know what I learn.

CHL protection program only covers you up to grand jury stuff. If the grand jury decides to indite, then you're on the hook for everything after that.S&W6946 wrote:Cyphur, I've talked to Larry Mackey, the President of CHL Protection Program and got some clarifications on their coverage. Remember, you or your lawyer don't have the right to be present at a grand jury, so I feel it's only of limited usefulness.

True enough about the Grand Jury. But their goal is to get the charges dropped in truly justified self defense cases. If one is indicted, then the case probably is not going to be self defense.
I think it would be beneficial to have someone to call and be there to represent your interests if you were arrested for some reason. CHL Protection Plan has a couple of examples on their website of interest that don't even involve the discharge of a weapon and the CHL holder was arrested.
My PrePaid Legal Plan will provide up to 300 hours of criminal defense at no charge to me should I need it. I see the plans as complimentary to each other. I'm going to sign up for CHL Protection in addition to my prepaid legal.

A lot of attorneys hold CHLs and understand the issues. Finding one near you should not be too hard. You could check with gun shop owners, pastors (they know everybody, and many of them pack as well), and businessmen. When you get some names, look them up at the local library's copy of Martindale and Hubbell, and see if they're what you need.sjones wrote:I'm not real sure where to post this so if its in the wrong place then I appoligize.Does anybody happen to know one in the south Dallas or Waxahachie area?I would like to find one and have their business card just in case I ever need one.I hope I never need one,but you just never know.Everyone talks about being prepared for anything, which gun, which holster, which ammo is the best, but I've never seen anything about this subject.Heaven forbid, but if any of us are ever involved in a self defense shooting we will certainly need one.I for one would like to be prepared ahead of time. What you think abouth this? sj :?:
