How did they do that?
How could YOU do it to say a Plastic Pistol (Like a glock) or a 1911, heck maybe even a revolver.

That's pretty amazing. I'm not sure I'm that brave. If you try it, be sure to put up some pics of the results!

I agree with above poster...what would be good to practice on? Maybe the flat side of a shovel or a piece of scrap metal? That paint is pricey too so don't practice too much :cheers2:

I currently have a deer rifle sent off being duracoated. ( The Sako 7mm I inherited that had the bluing worn out on it. Duracoat was cheaper than re-bluing )

It's not tape it's a paint that is sprayed on by your everyday spray rig. The possibilities are endless on what you can do with Duracoat and it is a great way to protect your rifle. Duracoat can be applied to anything that's painted. Pretty cool concept and I'm thinking about sending other rifles/pistols in if I like what I get back on the one I have already sent off.

Also, Here's where I sent mine to be duracoated. This guy is supposed to do awesome work with this stuff:

Very cool Mojo. I thought about doing it myself as well. You did it the right way by sand-blasting. I have heard you get much more life out the coating when the surface is sand-blasted. My brother has duracoated a .270 of his and he applied it to his bolt thinking it would wear off. Well, he has shot it about 50 times since duracoating and the bolt still looks like it was freshly painted.

Some finishes are hydrographic (water transfer films). A lot of camo patterns you see on new guns are done this way. If you look closely at some guns, you can find the "seam" in the film where the camo pattern doesn't line up, usually under the barrel of a shotgun for example.

Just about anything can be done in water transfer in just about any pattern...
