New G21SF's are finally issued out!
They are starting to dole out our new Glock 21 short frame .45s at work. The dept won't have the ammo altogether for us to qualify until June, but we got our guns, 3 mags, mag holders, and holsters. We were encouraged to practice to get used to the different holster configuration (same basic design, just slightly different retention, which I won't describe on a public forum ;) ).
Took mine out to get some break in going on it (yes - even though its a Glock I like to shoot through that copper lube on it to get things moving). I put 200 downrange today, it worked flawlessly.
I did different types of firing from single L or R hand, rapid fire, doubles with a reload in between, and slow, steady shooting. This gun is EASY and smooth to shoot. It was not very foreign as I already own and carry a G30sf (G21SF:G30SF like G22: G27/G23).
I'll have some pictures sooner or later. Still owe you guys pictures on the LMT thread when my rifle came in. I'll probably combine them and just make it a guns for work pictures thread or something. I'll be carrying with at TRL-1 light.
Only downside so far is the dept armorers haven't gotten the bigger slide release thumb catches on there. It's still the flat factory one...dislike.
Pretty excited about having 13+1 rds of .45 vs the 15+1 of .40 that we currently carry.

So how much smaller is a 21SF than a 30? - Never mind I'll look it up.
A few weeks ago I was at "Collector's Firearms". I was checking out the Glock cabinet and I asked the salesman if I could handle a 21 "short frame". He very loudly "corrected" me where lots of customers could hear - "YOU MEAN SLIM FRAME! SF STANDS FOR SLIM FRAME!"
I told him he might need to read up on Glocks.
Darn kids!!!
Oh, and I'm glad your department saw fit to upgrade to a "real" caliber!

I thought it meant you don't have to aim, reload or clean "SIMPLY FIRE".

When held side by side my 21sf looks slightly thinner than my 30sf.

Sorry for the lame iPhone pics.

Dept Ammo is Speer Gold Dots which is fine by me. They issue it. Instead of getting one of each, I'd rather just take a huge chunk of pay increase...though we are payed well...more would be nice.45mac.40 wrote: They should enclude one box, OF EACH manufactures ...(couple hundred). defensive rounds, for your break in, let you guys, decide which ammo to carry while on duty !!!

I knew that question was coming. As of right now Idunno because we haven't been supplied with dept ammo yet, but I'm like 95% sure that its the .230s

I was just curious because I carry my Glock 30 most of the time with the 200+P.

I should have also asked what the reason for the switch was?
Most of the departments that I know of around here will issue the 23s out. Most officers decide that they'd rather carry something else and can do so, as long as it meets whatever parameters the department has set and they qualify with the pistol.

Re: New G21SF's are finally issued out!
We HAVE to carry what's issued. We currently have G22s, but there have been some run ins where the officers have felt that more firepower would've been nicer.
No complaints from this guy.
