Carry is your basic Kimber, the others have more bells and whistles (and some think they're prettier).
Stand by for more details from others. I presume you've already looked at the Kimber web site ( http://www.kimberamerica.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ).

CDP includes Meprolight sights, carry melt (dehorn), premium trigger, alloy frame, stainless slide w/ black frame, frontstrap checkering, ambi-safety, and it's from the custom shop.
I have a Pro CDP and after the 350rd breakin, it's been flawless since.

Thanks for the information Larry H and 7075 - T7. Looking at buying a CDP and also have a chance to get either of the other two mentioned and wanted to be informed before I got one.

Re: Can anyone tell me what the difference is between Kimber
Other than looks I think it breaks down this way.
Ultra Carry - Standard kimber stuff, alloy frame, rubber grips, contrast dot sights.
Eclipse - neat look, front strap checkering , night sights, steel frame, wood grips.
CDP - Carry melt, night sights, alloy frame, ambi-safety, front strap checkering, wood grips.
I was between the Eclipse and the CDP, and since I carry it I wen't with the CDP for the carry melt and lighter weight.

I have my choice narrowed down between the Ultra CDP and the Ultra Raptor II. I think I am going to pull the trigger on the CDP. I love my Sig P220 but could use a little more room for girth... I mean growth.

For a carry go Ultra CDP. I have a regular UC and Pro CDP (4") and you can tell the difference on the dehorning. I am planning on selling my UC to get the UC CDP. The Eclipse selling point is the blackened SS with Polished flats. It isnt dehorned though.

Re: Can anyone tell me what the difference is between Kimber
I always wanted to get an Ultra CDP but it was never in the cards. Wrong time, wrong place, not enough cash, etc. I had carried a Pro Eclipse for a little while but it got to be a bit heavy and the full-size grip on it dug into my side a bit (I'm a small guy). I then got an Ultra Crimson Carry which is a great gun but my thirst for the CDP never subsided. I finally sold the Crimson and got my grubby mitts on a CDP and my goodness what a sweet little 3" 1911. I didn't think the feel between the Ultra Carry and the Ultra CDP would be noticeable but it really opened my eyes. You won't go wrong with getting the Ultra Carry but springing the extra dollars for the CDP are well worth it. IMHO, of course. Regardless, getting a Kimber can only be a good thing. Good luck.

Some of you fellers talk like the Ultra carry is a particular model. All of the kimbers come in an Ultra Carry. "Ultra" is the three inch version of which ever model you happen to like. "Pro" is the four inch version and also comes in all models. The five inch versions are usually called Target. All three come in variations of plain jane to bells and whistles.

Re: Can anyone tell me what the difference is between Kimber
The Ultra Carry is a line of Kimber pistols that all have a 3'' barrel. There are a six models with different features, http://www.kimberamerica.com/products/p ... ltracarry/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I have a Pro CDP II and find it perfect for carry, the light weight, the 4'' bull barrel reduces recoil, the dehorning etc.. I would suggest to swap out the fancy rosewood grips for something less abrasive if you plan to carry daily. My next pistol purchase with either be the Kimber Pro Tactical II or the Ultra RCP II (if I can find one). They are great pistols and have a very good "feel" in my hand and come right up to my line of sight with very natural aiming. I have several carry pistols but I prefer to carry my CDP as much as I can.

Au contraire, my friend. The Custom Carry II (5"), Pro Carry II (4") and Ultra Carry II (3") ARE explicit models. (For example, http://www.kimberamerica.com/products/p ... tprocarry/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; )03Lightningrocks wrote:Some of you fellers talk like the Ultra carry is a particular model. You are correct that Ultra "whatever" is the 3" version, Pro the 4" and Custom or Target the 5", but "Carry" is the base model.

Fwiw I saw somebody in the "latest handgun you bought thread" they had the raptor II. I don't know if they all come black but that was one of the nicest 1911 I have seen.
