Spottted a concealed carry today

Post by SecedeTX »

I went to my buddies 40th birthday party today. Just a bunch of guys, and we went to go play paintball. I thought, of all places, if I was going to see one it would be there. No 30.06 anywhere by the way.

After 7 rounds, we were getting ready to go. I was unstrapping everthing, and saw a guy around 50 strapping on his CO2 belt with extra paintball holders. While he was putting it on, I see the muzzle of what looked to be a .45 peek out from under his shirt while he was strapping on his velcro belt. It was just a flash, but it was there.

The CHL is keeping me on more of a heightened alert (alert is not really a good word, but I can't think of another).

I was carrying mine in my Fobus holster all day and had zero issues. Considering how physical today was there were no carrying issues. The holster locks tight, and covers the trigger.

It was an awesome 40th birthday also. I would even say it is not bad tactical training. I do have 4 really nice welts from the day, but I painted lots more people than painted me!

Gonna be sore tomorrow though.

Where did you play? I used to play paintball back in CA and have been thinking about getting back into it.

I don't know if I'd want to carry while playing. I'd hate to have my gun or holster take hits from the paint.

Especially if when shooting a .380 or a .45 :cryin

The closest I've come to spotting someone carrying was a
guy wearing a military style beret, boots, and a fanny pack.
The clincher was that this was inside a Walmart.

I spotted a guy at Lowes on Friday. I went into Sunbelt to get a brush cutter and while I was waiting another gentleman walked in and I saw a square looking bulge on his hip at 3 o'clock. I looked at him a lil bit more and he had 5.11 style pants on with a rather large knife in the side pocket. I looked at him and I said "Im sorry but I have to ask...Are you carrying?"

He just kinda looked at me and skirked and said "Yea, I have not got my summer carry down yet."

Turns out he came into town from Montana to help some family. He said when he left there was 6" of snow on the ground. We talked guns while we waited on the worker. He was extremely surprised to find out I was carrying a 5" 1911 with two spare mags OWB with only a T-Shirt on. He on the other hand had a pretty large shirt on and was carrying a Glock. +1 for the 1911 :evil2:

You might avoid some problems by wearing pants.

RE: Paintball - if you guys still play, I'd love to meet up and go out. I played on a tourney team in college and would love to get back in. We had a Smart Parts sponsorship in the works when I had to cash out of the sport ($ and time are two precious things in college....and the rest of life I'm learning).

I'm getting old. I woke up this morning really sore in my legs. Way too much sprinting, crouching, rolling, etc.

It was fun though. I will do it again. Gotta buy my own equipment though.

If you don't mind slumming with a rec baller such as myself, I'd love to meet up one day. I'm leaning more towards getting back into it once I get my carry weapon and CHL all squared away.

I used to play a mean game of pump back in my day but had more than my fair share of electros as well.
