Fourth Generation Glock Disassembly

Any different from the rest when it comes to disassembly for cleaning?

I know almost nothing about the newest models, but I understand there are some mechanical differences, thus my question...

I have only field stripped one, but it was not any different, aside from a different recoil spring assembly. I haven't detail stripped one, but I don't think it is any different than the others. Glock is inherently resistant to change.

I don't own a Glock but I bought my son-in-law a new G22 (I assume it was the latest generation because the guys said it was the new model) in April and the salesman at GT distributing informed him the new model was a little different in reaasembly. The two piece guide rod had to be straight and there were two little "tangs" for lack of a better description that had to be in the correct orientation, i.e. slid forward or back - I don't remember- before the slide would go back on the frame correctly. Even he had difficulty getting it back together correctly the first couple of times.

No question 1911 's are things of beauty, much like the craftsmanship of many flintlocks...and just as dependable.

I still have one of my Glocks but my experience wasn't so good. Four of us all had 21's and we all had problems. I realize they probably perfected them by now but the first ones were far from perfect.

Freind brought over his new 4th gen Glock 17 yesterday, I field stripped it same as any other ...

I didn't read the directions

As far as I can tell, other than the recoil spring and cosmetics (slide grooves/texture/finger grooves etc) not much changed from my 1988 Glock 17, except in '88 there was no rail.

I do own a Spinger 1911 and carried it for a while. I now carry a Glock 23. Full disclosure though, I will likely go back to a 1911 when I get an EMP or smaller framed Kimber.

That's got to be one of the first negative reviews I've ever read about Glocks. I'm a 1911 guy to my core, but even a JMB nut like me can appreciate a Glock pistol. (Just don't tell austinrealtor I said that...) My wife carries G19, and I think it's a great pistol. I don't like the .45s, because they are just too big and too wide (plus the grips don't really fit my hand that well). Even the 6+1 single stack .45 doesn't offer enough advantage over my 7+1 Kimber Ultra to make it that interesting to me. But I've shot 9mm, .40 cal, and 10mm versions of the gun, and I think it is a fine weapon.

In fact, if I was going to buy a 10mm pistol, I'd probably buy the Glock. The problem is that I don't really want to start buying or handloading another caliber.
